Croatia has a magnificent coastline, with 1,185 islands, islets and reefs, numerous Roman ruins and picturesque medieval villages. Croatia is alluring for lovers of fun, sun, local colour, great food and absorbing history.

Our Croatia favorites:

  • Beach villas in Rovinj

Places to Holiday in Croatia

Holiday villas in Croatia are very popular as they maintain the luxury standards of hotels in Croatia but provide more privacy, space and culture. The same goes for Croatian apartments.

Dalmatian Coast - Dalmatia is a Croatian region located south of Croatia. The coastline is indented with rocky cliffs, peninsulas and small inlets with hundreds of Croatian islands offshore, and large mountains inland from the Dalmation Coast. The capital of Dalmatia is built around the World Heritage site of Diocletian Palace.

Istria - Istria is largest peninsula in Croatia, located on the very west part of Croatia. It is closely located to Italy,Slovenia and Austria. It has a large coastline, full of small and larger bays and hundred of places and villages. The interior of Istria peninsula is very attractive, with numerous villages built on top of the hills around the town of Istria, a town much influenced by Italian culture.

Kvarner- The Kvarner Gulf is the area in Northern part of the Croatian Adriatic, bordered by both the Croatian mainland and Istrian Peninsula. Kvarner is one of the closest points of Adriatic Sea to Central and Western Europe, therefore, because of it's vicinity and mild climate and unique archetecture, Kvarner remains very popular tourist destination for UK holidaymakers.

Zagreb - Zagreb, Croatia, lies on the crossroads of important routes between the Adriatic coast and Central Europe. Zagreb as a city has a Baroque ambience, charming markets, various shopping facilities, as well as choice of various small and larger restaurants and hotels. Zagreb is also a city of green parks and walks.

Things to do on holiday in Croatia

There is plenty of culture to be absorbed in Croatia. The Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb and the Mimara Museum’s extensive collection of foreign art and sculpture will fascinate lovers of fine art. Examples of early Croatian art can be discovered at the Museum of Croatian Archaelogical Monuments in Split. The Dubrovnik Summer Festival which runs from July until late August features magnificent jazz concerts, open air theatre and local gastronomic delights.

Although the beaches of the Adriatic are not often sandy, the golden sands of Zlatni Rat on the island of Brac are ideal for whiling away the hours sunbathing. However, the seas of the Adriatic harbour many shipwrecks, and the scuba diving off the island of Vis make renting a property in Croatia a real treat.

Hiking, rock climbing and mountain biking are extremely popular here with enthusiast traveling for miles to the Risnjak National Park or the Paklenica National Park situated high in Dalmatia’s Velebit Massif.

The Dalmation region is blessed with a Mediterranean climate, ensuring mild winters and long, hot summers. Winters tend to be mild, although Eastern Croatian winters can be rather cold.

Travel to Croatia

Airlines have direct, scheduled flights to Croatia direct from the UK to Bol (BWK), Dubrovnik (DBV), Mali Losinj (LSZ), Osijek (OSI), Pula (PUY), Split (SPU) and Zagreb (ZAG). Providers include: British Airways, easyJet, Ryanair and Croatia Airlines, so shopping around for cheap flights to Croatia is advised. A useful way to get around Croatia is to hire a car on arrival, and prices for car hire are very reasonable.
